4WD stuck in the mud in West Auckland

Two 4WDs were stuck in the mud in Parau, West Auckland today and one was set to spend another night stranded.

be set to:已成定势

strand:搁浅

A 4WD got stuck in Big Muddy Creek, near Cavern Point, on Monday.

get stuck:被困住

When its owners called for help, a second 4WD failed in its rescue mission and became stuck as well.

fail in:在…

mission impossible 0111

Today more reinforcements were called in and a team of people took six hours to free the second vehicle.

Reinforcement:

Take (some time) to do (something): It took a team of people six hours to free the second vehicle.

Deep wheel marks were left in the soft, muddy ground and huge splatters of mud could be seen on the side of a yellow 4WD.

Wheel mark:

Splatter:

As the tide started to come in again at 6pm, the first stuck vehicle hadn't even begun to be freed from its muddy prison and it looked set to spent a third night in the mud.

Tide:

Muddy prison:
