【读新闻学英语】直升机救援被海狮咬伤女子

新西兰先驱报中文网 Sara 编译  昨天我们讲到了海豚宝宝，其实新西兰能有这么多珍稀动物，是因为有很多人致力于保护动物事业当中，这也让新西兰成为动物研究专家的圣地。

近日，有一名动物研究工作人员被海狮咬伤，伤口感染。尽管她在南岛最南端以南400公里的岛上工作，新西兰救援协调中心还是派出了直升机，往返800公里将她送去医院。

A rescue helicopter is flying 400km to a remote island to evacuate a woman injured by a sea lion pup.

一辆救援直升机正在飞往400公里以外的偏僻小岛，去拯救一位被海狮幼崽咬伤的女子。

Evacuate：撤离；（从危险的地方）撤出

Pup：幼小动物；幼仔

The woman had been assisting research work on Enderby Island, which is part of the Auckland Island archipelago south of Stewart Island, swabbing sea lion pups' mouths when she cut her finger about nine days ago.

该女子在Enderby岛，即奥克兰群岛的一部分、Stewart岛以南的岛上帮忙做研究工作。约9天前她给海狮幼仔擦嘴巴时不小心割伤了手指。

奥克兰群岛：新西兰在南太平洋的无人居住群岛，距南岛布拉夫港南方465公里处。不是在北岛的奥克兰城市哦。

The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) has been told the infection had gotten worse.

"Sea lion bites are known to result in infected wounds," says RCCNZ watch leader John Dickson.

"A doctor on a nearby cruise liner assessed the wound and recommended she be evacuated to hospital as a precaution as her condition is not responding to treatment,".

“附近一艘旅游船的医生检查了伤口，建议她尽快去医院，即使仅仅作为预防措施，因为她的伤口没有对治疗起反应。”

Its Southern Lakes BK117 helicopter left at 9.40am when the weather was clear enough.

当天气足够好后，Southern Lakes BK117号直升机于上午9时40分出发。

"The 800km round-trip is a delicate operation due to the remoteness of the island," Dickson said.

Dickson说：“来回800公里的行动需要小心翼翼地处理，因为这个岛比较远。”

"There are fuel reserves on Enderby Island so the helicopter will refuel before it makes the return journey.

"We expect the helicopter will arrive at the island and to pick up the patient around lunchtime. All going well, they should be back in Invercargill around late afternoon."
