A mum has made a horrific discovery after noticing a "pungent smell" coming from her daughter's new school skirt.

Natalie Kirkwood bought the skirt from UK retailer Asda for her 7-year-old daughter, Sophia.

While trying to pinpoint the source of the foul odour, Kirkwood noticed a section of lining that appeared to be thicker than others.

She filmed herself cutting open the lining as evidence to show Asda if the skirt had to be returned and, to her disgust, she found a rotting mouse inside.
