Swoon：昏倒；痴迷；对（某人）神魂颠倒；后加某人时用介词“over”

A good Samaritan who helped an elderly lady at an Auckland supermarket is "overwhelmed" after being flooded with proposals from gushing single women.

在奥克兰一家超市帮助老人的一个男子因为好心之举，被单身女性的爱慕之情“淹没”了。

Samaritan：撒玛利亚人；乐善好施者。好撒玛利亚人（the Good Samaritan）在基督教文化中意为好心人、见义勇为者，来源于《路加福音》中撒玛利亚人救助犹太人的故事。

Overwhelm：压倒，不知所措

Proposal：提议；求婚

Gushing：过分热情的；过分赞扬的；夸张地表现感情的。这个词简直给后面的Single women心上插刀啊哈哈。

A woman took a photo of the exchange and posted it to the Papakura and Takanini Grapevine Facebook page.

Grapevine：小道消息；葡萄藤。这个短语是因为一开始人们用电缆传递消息，电缆看起来像乱七八糟歪歪曲曲的葡萄藤，故得名，后延伸为小道消息。

She wrote: "You made her day! And if you are single, I'd like to buy you a beer (better than the lion red you brought maybe?)."

她还写道：“你给了她美好的一天！如果你还单身，我想给你买杯酒喝（应该比你买的Lion Red啤酒要好）”

You made my day：你今天真让我高兴；你给了我美好的一天。想象一下，日复一日的平凡生活，有没有“小确幸”点亮了你的一天？这时候你就可以对这个人说，你的举动让我这一天特别开心，you made my day。

Buy you a beer：西方社会看上某人的话，搭讪用语常用的一句就是“may I buy you a beer?” 就是请你喝酒，更进一步聊聊的意思。

Several other women praised him, swooning over his generosity.

"What an awesome gesture.....such a kind soul......I'll have him if he's single,"one posted.

However his wife, Stacey Nichols, was quick to claim her man.

"Sorry ladies he's taken. This man is my wonderful husband! Don't worry I know how lucky I am," she wrote.

"When he told me what he did I wasn't even surprised because it's not unusual for him to be compassionate towards others.

Compassionate：富有同情心的，后接人时，介词用towards。
